Press On Nails Application & Care Guide
Follow these simple steps for salon worthy press on nails and longer lasting wear.
How to Apply
- Prep your nails: remove old polish, wipe with alcohol, lightly buff the surface, and push back cuticles
- Match each press-on to your natural nail size and file edges if needed for a perfect fit
- Apply a small amount of glue or a jelly tab to the center of your natural nail
- Press the press-on firmly for 20–30 seconds, starting from the cuticle and rolling toward the tip
- File and shape the edges to finish your look
How to Remove
- Soak your nails in warm soapy water for 10–15 minutes to loosen the adhesive
- Gently lift the press-on from the sides using a cuticle stick
- Never force or pull the press-ons off to avoid damaging your natural nails
- Wash your hands, buff away any residue, and apply cuticle oil or hand cream
- Clean and store reusable press-ons for future wear
Tips to Make Them Last Longer
- Start with dry, oil-free nails for better adhesion
- Lightly buff and dehydrate your nail plate before application
- Choose press-ons that are slightly smaller than your nail bed and file to fit
- Apply a bit more glue at the free edge for longer-lasting wear
- Avoid long exposure to hot water and heavy hand use for 1–2 hours after application
- Re-glue any lifted edges immediately to prevent water from getting underneath
- Wear gloves when cleaning or doing dishes to protect your manicure
For a quick change manicure, use jelly tabs. For maximum wear time, use nail glue on clean, prepped nails or combine a thin layer of glue with tabs.
